Roles & Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, and implement meaningful recreational activities tailored to residents' abilities
• Assess and reassess residents' interests and needs through observation, conversation, and documentation
• Provide one-on-one engagement to enhance residents' quality of life
• Accompany residents on community excursions such as shopping, dining, and leisure outings
• Coordinate with hospital staff and dietary services to ensure activity logistics and special meal needs
• Prepare, set up, clean up, and maintain activity supplies and audiovisual equipment
• Assist with inventory management and report shortages or equipment needs
• Support Certified Nurse Aides and licensed staff with basic patient care tasks as needed
• Attend interdisciplinary meetings and contribute to patient-centered care planning

Qualifications

• CNA certification REQUIRED
• Active BLS certification REQUIRED
• Minimum 2 years of Recreational Aide experience — no exceptions
• Experience with MDS is essential
• Demonstrated ability to independently execute recreational treatment plans
• Comfort assisting with toileting, bathing, dressing, and grooming when needed
• Ability to operate vehicles for patient transport during community excursions
• Strong communication skills for interacting with residents, families, and staff

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong understanding of recreational treatment plans and leisure-time activities
• Knowledge of human growth and development
• Familiarity with hospital policies, procedures, and worksite rules
• Ability to operate and maintain audiovisual equipment
• Inventory and supply management skills
• Effective interpersonal skills for working with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams
• Ability to assess resident needs and adapt activities accordingly
