Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide skilled occupational therapy evaluations and interventions across acute care settings (inpatient, outpatient, rehab)
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans focused on functional outcomes and safe discharge
• Collaborate with PT, SLP and interdisciplinary teams to coordinate patient-centered care
• Perform and document treatments in Cerner PowerChart accurately and timely
• Supervise and work alongside rehab aides, OTAs, and support staff to maximize patient progress
• Float to assigned areas as needed and adapt to changing caseloads and unit needs
• Deliver bedside assessments including swallow screening support when applicable and participate in video/bedside swallow study workflows

Qualifications

• Passed NBCOT exam (NBCOT certification required)
• Current BLS certification
• Valid license to practice Occupational Therapy (able to submit appropriate license documentation)
• Minimum clinical experience — employers request at least 1 year (posting notes up to 2 years listed)
• Experience charting in Cerner PowerChart or other EMR preferred
• Preferred: travel experience and trauma experience — these make your application stand out
• Comfort working across inpatient, outpatient and rehab environments and floating as needed

Education

• NBCOT certification (required)
• BLS Certification (required)
• State license to practice Occupational Therapy (required)

Knowledge & Skills

• Skilled in acute care and rehab diagnoses: ortho, post-surgical, neuro, trauma, spinal cord injury
• Familiarity with speech-related issues including bedside swallow studies; video swallowing study experience preferred
• Proficient with Cerner PowerChart charting and documentation workflows
• Strong interdisciplinary communication and care coordination abilities
• Ability to manage varied caseload volumes (outpatient up to ~9/day, inpatient up to ~13/day depending on area)
• Adaptability to unit-specific orientation and departmental procedures
