Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform Type & Crossmatch testing accurately and efficiently to support safe transfusions
• Run and interpret complex antibody panels and antigen testing to solve challenging cases
• Perform Direct Antiglobulin Testing (DAT) and fetal/neonatal transfusion testing with care
• Investigate suspected transfusion reactions thoroughly and document findings
• Process cord blood workups and fetal screens to support neonatal care
• Maintain quality control, documentation, and compliance in a very high-volume lab
• Collaborate with clinical teams and provide clear, timely results that impact patient care
• Contribute to a positive lab environment by mentoring colleagues and sharing best practices

Qualifications

• ASCP certification required (or equivalent as specified by employer)
• Current MT or MLT credential and any state-required licensure
• Recent, comprehensive blood bank/transfusion medicine experience (generalist-only is not sufficient)
• Experience in a high-volume laboratory and comfort working in a Level III trauma center
• Willingness to participate in weekend and holiday rotations (assignment includes ~2 weekends/month)
• Ability to work the afternoon shift (2:30 PM - 11:00 PM) reliably

Education

• MT or MLT credential (Medical Technologist/Medical Laboratory Technician)
• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science or related field preferred
• ASCP certification required

• Type & Crossmatch and Complex Antibody Panel interpretation

• High-volume laboratory workflow and quality control practices
