Roles & Responsibilities

Deliver safe, high-quality nursing care to patients in the Step-Down Unit (SDU)
Perform ongoing patient assessments and intervene promptly when conditions change
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized care plans
Administer medications, manage infusions, and monitor cardiac telemetry as needed
Document patient care accurately and timely in the electronic health record
Educate patients and families on condition management and discharge planning
Support unit efficiency and positive patient experience through teamwork and communication

Qualifications

Registered Nurse (RN) — professional, friendly, and ready to care
Experience in a Step-Down Unit (SDU) or similar progressive care setting preferred
Current basic life support (BLS) certification preferred (facility may require specific certs)
Ability to work 12.5-hour shift patterns and collaborate with a dynamic team
Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, and communication skills

Education

Nursing degree (ADN, Diploma, or BSN) — as required by employer/state

Knowledge & Skills

Comfortable with telemetry monitoring and progressive care patient populations
Skilled in patient assessment, medication administration, and documentation
Able to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment
Strong teamwork, communication, and patient advocacy abilities
Familiarity with electronic health records and clinical workflows
