Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess and monitor intermediate acuity patients, interpreting telemetry and vital trends
• Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately with attention to detail
• Perform focused physical assessments and escalate changes in condition promptly
• Coordinate care with physicians, multidisciplinary teams, and families to support optimal outcomes
• Document patient status, interventions, and discharge planning clearly in the EHR
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, medications, and follow-up care
• Actively participate in unit initiatives to improve patient safety, quality, and efficiency

Qualifications

• Current RN license in Louisiana or eligibility to obtain one
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred
• Prior experience in a step-down/SDU, telemetry, or progressive care setting preferred
• Strong clinical assessment skills, critical thinking, and ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills; patient-centered mindset

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry monitoring and interpretation
• Cardiac rhythm recognition and response
• IV medication administration and infusion management
• Skilled in EHR documentation and electronic medication administration records
• Patient education, discharge planning, and care coordination
• Ability to triage, prioritize, and escalate care appropriately
