Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, high-quality nursing care to neuro stepdown patients
• Perform frequent neurological assessments and monitor telemetry closely
• Administer medications, IV therapies and unit-based treatments safely
• Communicate changes in patient condition clearly and promptly to the care team
• Collaborate with physicians, therapists and support staff to develop and follow care plans
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatment plans and discharge needs
• Document assessments and interventions accurately and timely in the medical record
• Respond effectively to urgent events and participate in unit emergency protocols

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license for Louisiana or eligible for compact licensure
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required; ACLS and other specialty certifications preferred
• Previous experience in stepdown, progressive care or telemetry units is highly desirable
• Strong clinical assessment skills, especially neuro assessment and telemetry interpretation
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills; dependable and patient-centered

Education

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program required (ADN or BSN)
• BSN preferred when available

Knowledge & Skills

• Skilled in neurological assessments and monitoring
• Proficient with telemetry and cardiac rhythm recognition
• Competent with IV medication administration and infusion therapy
• Strong critical thinking and prioritization in acute care settings
• Effective documentation and electronic medical record use
• Collaborative approach to interdisciplinary care
