Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess and monitor patient conditions, using clinical judgment to prioritize care
• Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately
• Coordinate patient care with physicians, therapists, and the interdisciplinary team
• Educate patients and families on diagnoses, care plans, and discharge instructions
• Document care and patient progress clearly in the medical record
• Respond to changes in patient condition and escalate concerns in a timely manner
• Maintain a safe, clean environment and follow infection control protocols
• Contribute to unit-based improvement initiatives and patient-centered care delivery

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Louisiana (required)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (required); ACLS preferred
• Previous Med/Surg nursing experience preferred
• Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
• Ability to work 12-hour shifts and handle the physical demands of bedside nursing
• Compliance with facility immunization and health requirements

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Patient assessment and clinical decision-making
• Medication administration and IV therapy fundamentals
• Basic familiarity with electronic health records and documentation best practices
• Time management, prioritization, and delegation
• Infection control and patient safety practices
• Effective patient and family education techniques
• Collaborative interdisciplinary communication
