Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, patient-centered nursing care in the step-down unit
• Assess and monitor patient condition, recognizing changes and escalating when needed
• Coordinate care with physicians, advanced practice providers, and interdisciplinary team members
• Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately according to protocols
• Document patient care, assessments and interventions clearly and promptly
• Educate patients and families about condition, care plans and discharge instructions
• Participate in unit-based practice improvements and quality initiatives

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse license in Louisiana or eligible to obtain one
• Current BLS certification required; ACLS preferred or required by facility
• Experience working in a step-down unit or progressive care environment preferred
• Strong clinical assessment skills and ability to manage acutely ill patients
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
• Ability to pass facility onboarding and any required background checks

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
• Completion of an accredited nursing program and active RN licensure

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficient in cardiac monitoring and telemetry interpretation
• Skilled in IV therapy, medication administration and infusion management
• Familiarity with progressive care nursing protocols and post-op monitoring
• Comfortable using electronic health record systems for documentation
• Strong critical thinking, prioritization and time management skills
