Roles & Responsibilities

Assess and monitor SDU patients, recognizing subtle changes and escalating care as needed
Develop and implement individualized nursing care plans in collaboration with the team
Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately
Document assessments, interventions, and patient responses in the medical record promptly
Coordinate care with physicians, therapists, and support staff to optimize patient outcomes
Provide compassionate education and support to patients and their families
Respond effectively to patient emergencies and participate in unit-based rapid response

Qualifications

Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Louisiana (or compact RN privileges as applicable)
BLS certification required; ACLS preferred or obtainable upon hire
Experience in a step-down/SDU environment preferred
Strong clinical judgment, teamwork, and communication skills
Ability to pass standard background check and health screening

Education

Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or BSN; BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

Proficient in patient assessment, telemetry monitoring, and hemodynamic observation
Skilled with IV medication administration and infusion pump management
Excellent documentation skills and familiarity with electronic medical records
Strong critical thinking and prioritization under pressure
Knowledge of infection control practices and patient safety protocols
Collaborative approach to interdisciplinary care
