Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality respiratory care and therapeutic treatments to patients
• Assess patients’ respiratory status and implement appropriate care plans
• Operate and manage ventilators and other respiratory support equipment
• Monitor patient response, adjust therapies, and escalate concerns when needed
• Document treatments and clinical observations accurately in the medical record
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and the interdisciplinary care team
• Educate patients and families on respiratory conditions and home care
• Respond professionally and quickly to respiratory emergencies and codes

Qualifications

• Current Respiratory Therapist license or state credential (Georgia licensure preferred)
• Credentialed as CRT or RRT (or equivalent) — maintain required certifications
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required; ACLS and PALS preferred or available
• Hands-on experience with ventilator management and airway interventions
• Strong clinical judgment, communication skills, and teamwork mindset
• Ability to work 12.5-hour clinical shifts and adapt to facility scheduling

Education

• Associate’s degree in Respiratory Therapy or related allied health field (required)
• Bachelor’s degree in Respiratory Therapy or Healthcare (preferred but not required)

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficiency in ventilator management and respiratory equipment
• Ability to interpret ABGs and other respiratory diagnostics
• Skilled in oxygen therapy, aerosol treatments, and airway care
• Familiarity with electronic medical records and accurate documentation
• Strong patient education and bedside manner
• Calm, decisive response during emergency airway and code situations
