Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide patient-centered occupational therapy interventions to help residents regain independence and function
- Assess functional abilities and document progress in clear, timely notes
- Collaborate with nursing and interdisciplinary teams to create and implement treatment plans
- Train and educate patients, families, and staff on therapeutic techniques and safety strategies
- Adapt activities and equipment to meet each resident's individual needs and goals
- Track outcomes and contribute to quality improvement initiatives that make a real difference
Qualifications
- Current Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) credential
- State licensure or eligibility to practice in West Virginia
- Basic Life Support (BLS) or CPR certification preferred or willing to obtain
- Previous experience in long-term care, skilled nursing, or rehab settings is preferred
- Strong communication skills and a compassionate, patient-focused approach
Education
- Associate degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program
- Graduation from an accredited OTA program and successful completion of certification requirements
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of occupational therapy principles, adaptive equipment, and activity analysis
- Skilled in patient assessments, documentation, and care planning
- Ability to work collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams
- Proficient with electronic charting systems or willing to learn
- Good time management and organizational skills
