Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform thorough speech-language and swallowing evaluations for skilled nursing residents
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans that improve communication and safety
• Document progress and treatment outcomes accurately and timely
• Collaborate with nursing, therapy colleagues, and family members to coordinate person-centered care
• Provide skilled interventions for dysphagia and cognitive-communication disorders
• Educate residents, families, and staff on strategies to support ongoing function and independence

Qualifications

• Current SLP license (or eligible to obtain licensure) for Connecticut
• Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) from ASHA required
• 1-3 years of clinical experience, ideally with skilled nursing facility (SNF) populations
• Comfortable working on-site at a single facility (no float requirement)
• Strong documentation and time-management skills

Education

• Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Expertise in dysphagia assessment and management
• Skilled in speech, language, and cognitive-communication therapy approaches
• Proficient with clinical documentation and therapeutic goal writing
• Ability to collaborate effectively within an interdisciplinary care team
• Compassionate patient-centered communication and family education
