Roles & Responsibilities
- Perform thorough speech-language and swallowing evaluations for skilled nursing residents
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans that improve communication and safety
- Document progress and treatment outcomes accurately and timely
- Collaborate with nursing, therapy colleagues, and family members to coordinate person-centered care
- Provide skilled interventions for dysphagia and cognitive-communication disorders
- Educate residents, families, and staff on strategies to support ongoing function and independence
Qualifications
- Current SLP license (or eligible to obtain licensure) for Connecticut
- Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) from ASHA required
- 1-3 years of clinical experience, ideally with skilled nursing facility (SNF) populations
- Comfortable working on-site at a single facility (no float requirement)
- Strong documentation and time-management skills
Education
- Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Expertise in dysphagia assessment and management
- Skilled in speech, language, and cognitive-communication therapy approaches
- Proficient with clinical documentation and therapeutic goal writing
- Ability to collaborate effectively within an interdisciplinary care team
- Compassionate patient-centered communication and family education
