Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care to students during the after-school program
- Monitor and respond to student health needs, including chronic and acute issues
- Administer medications and treatments per orders and school policy
- Assess students for illness or injury and deliver appropriate interventions
- Maintain accurate and timely health documentation and records
- Collaborate with school staff, administrators, and parents/guardians
- Ensure compliance with school, district, and state health regulations
Qualifications
- Active California LVN License required
- BLS Certification (AHA only) required
- Demonstrated pediatric experience required
- Ability to work independently and exercise excellent clinical judgment
- Strong communication and documentation skills
- Reliable and committed to the full school-year assignment
Education
- Graduate of an accredited LVN/Vocational Nursing program (or equivalent training)
Knowledge & Skills
- Pediatric nursing fundamentals and school-age health management
- Medication administration and treatment protocols in a school setting
- Student assessment for illness and injury with appropriate triage
- Accurate electronic and paper health documentation
- Collaboration with multidisciplinary school teams
- Basic emergency response and BLS skills
