Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive patient assessments and create individualized plans of care to improve outcomes
• Administer medications and cardiac-specific treatments safely and accurately
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate cardiac care and streamline patient flow
• Document patient care clearly and promptly in the electronic health record to support continuity and safety
• Educate patients and families with empathy so they feel informed and supported during procedures
• Participate in performance improvement and peer review initiatives to enhance clinical outcomes
• Manage complex clinical situations, delegate appropriately, and escalate concerns to protect patient safety

Qualifications

• Current Illinois RN license (IDFPR) required
• Graduate of an accredited nursing program; BSN preferred
• Minimum 3 years RN experience, including at least 1 year of critical care experience
• Cardiovascular intervention and Cardiac Cath Lab experience required
• Current CPR, ACLS, PALS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Successful completion of an EKG test prior to completion of orientation

Education

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (BSN preferred)

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong application of the nursing process and critical thinking in acute cardiac settings
• Thorough patient assessment and confident clinical decision-making
• Safe medication administration with strict adherence to standards of care
• Familiarity with Cardiac Cath Lab workflows and cardiovascular interventions
• Accurate clinical documentation and comfort working in electronic health records
• Excellent communication and interdisciplinary collaboration skills
• Ability to manage on-call duties, prioritize patient safety, delegate, and escalate when needed
