Roles & Responsibilities

Perform sonographic examinations of all body parts for diagnostic interpretation by radiologists
Apply professional judgment and radiation protection principles during procedures
Conduct diagnostic medical sonography across departments and areas
Maintain accurate patient records and files
Lead departmental quality assurance efforts
Pursue ongoing continuing education and professional development
Assist with patient transfers to and from imaging
Support ultrasound invasive procedures and equipment care like transducers and Trophon stations
Consult with referring physicians and contribute to policy development

Qualifications

Current ARDMS certification in at least one category (ABD, OB/GYN, RVT, RDCS)
Experience performing diagnostic exams in assigned ultrasound modalities
Basic Life Support (BLS) from American Heart Association
Ability to work with patients across all age groups from newborn to geriatric

Education

Current ARDMS certification (ABD, OB/GYN, RVT, RDCS); pursue continuing education to meet radiology/RDMS requirements

Knowledge & Skills

Sonographic examination techniques
Patient care tailored to age-specific needs
Radiation protection principles
Diagnostic medical sonography in general, vascular, or cardiac ultrasound
Quality assurance program management
Stress management in fast-paced environments
