Shift Type: Varied 8-10 hour shifts, start times at 6:00 AM or 10:00 AM, with overnight call once a week and weekend call covering 3 weekend days per month (1.5 weekends)

Roles & Responsibilities

• Assist in a fast-paced cardiovascular operating room, handling a variety of heart surgeries including CABG and valve procedures
• Prepare and maintain the sterile field, ensuring all instruments and equipment are ready for surgery
• Anticipate the needs of the surgical team during procedures, passing instruments and supplies efficiently
• Monitor patient vitals and EKG strips, alerting the team to any changes
• Assist with room turnover and sterilization between surgeries
• Float to other Sacramento facilities when needed (rare for OR RN, but possible for Surgical Tech)

Qualifications

• Current BLS certification
• NIHSS certification
• Minimum of 2 years of CVOR experience required
• Strong ability to read and interpret EKG strips
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Must not have been directly employed by any CommonSpirit facility (including CHI/Dignity) within the past year

Knowledge & Skills

• In-depth knowledge of cardiovascular surgery instruments and procedures
• Expertise in sterile technique and OR protocols
• Ability to work in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Familiarity with Cerner EMR system preferred
