Contract Type: Travel Contract
Shift Type: Rotating nights (3x12 or 4x12 options), Night 6:45 PM - 7:15 AM; every third weekend required; 36-hour option available
Hours per Week: 36
Candidate Pay Rate: $55 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide expert respiratory care for neonatal and pediatric patients in NICU, PICU, ED and pediatrics units
- Manage and troubleshoot ventilators including BiPAP, CPAP, IMV, SIMV and high frequency oscillators
- Assist with intubations and extubations and perform advanced airway management and tracheostomy care
- Deliver and monitor respiratory medications and aerosol therapies using appropriate delivery systems
- Perform and interpret arterial/capillary blood gases and provide ABG-based patient interventions
- Operate specialty equipment (Servo, Hamilton T1, HOFV-3100, Oscillators, Airvo HFNC, Smart Vest, etc.) safely and effectively
- Participate in neonatal and inter-departmental transports and float across pediatric units as needed
- Document care accurately in EPIC and manage medication dispensing with Pyxis
Qualifications
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential required
- Active NC state license required
- Current BLS, NRP and PALS certifications required
- Minimum 5 years of respiratory therapy experience with strong NICU and PICU experience
- Travel experience preferred; first-time travelers considered only with a high-level, demonstrable pediatric skillset
- Proven competency with EPIC charting and Pyxis medication systems
- Comfortable working night shifts, floating across pediatric units and covering every third weekend
Education
- Associate degree or diploma in Respiratory Therapy (or equivalent)
- RRT credential required
Knowledge & Skills
- Advanced ventilator management and weaning (BiPAP, CPAP, IMV, SIMV, HFOV)
- Neonatal/pediatric support: Bubble CPAP, umbilical/capillary blood gas handling, neonatal transport
- Airway management: intubation assist, suctioning (ETT/NT), trach care, pulmonary hygiene
- Medication administration for respiratory meds (Albuterol, Atrovent, Pulmicort, Nitric Oxide, Tobramycin, Xopenex, etc.)
- Nebulizer and aerosol device setup (handheld, T-piece, trach collar, Aerogen, EZflow Max)
- Interpretation of ABGs and basic EKG knowledge
- Familiarity with specialty equipment: Hamilton T1, Servo-I/Servo-N, HOFV-3100, Airvo HFNC, Smart Vest, Metaneb
