Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform utilization review activities including concurrent review, continued stay reviews, and retrospective review
• Apply InterQual and Milliman criteria to determine medical necessity and appropriate level of care
• Review clinical documentation and code diagnoses and procedures using ICD-10 and CPT standards
• Collaborate with care teams and case managers to support timely, patient-centered decisions
• Document findings and decisions accurately in EPIC and ensure compliance with regulatory standards
• Support regulatory and quality initiatives related to CMS, NCQA, HEDIS, DRG, HIPAA, OSHA, and The Joint Commission
• Communicate clearly and compassionately with clinicians, patients, and payers to facilitate safe transitions of care
• Contribute to process improvement and best practices in utilization management

Qualifications

• Active WA RN License required (pending licenses are not accepted)
• BLS certification required
• Minimum 1 year of clinical or relevant utilization review experience; first-timers accepted — we welcome motivated learners
• Proficiency with EPIC charting required
• Familiarity with ICD-10 and CPT coding and with InterQual or Milliman guidelines preferred
• Ability to work fully remote and provide any RTO (return-to-office) restrictions at time of submittal

• ICD-10 diagnosis coding and CPT procedure coding
• DRG, HEDIS measures, CMS regulations, and NCQA standards
• HIPAA compliance and documentation best practices
• EPIC electronic health record navigation and charting
• Strong clinical judgment, communication, and collaboration skills
