Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality perioperative nursing care to surgical patients before, during, and after procedures
• Coordinate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and OR staff to ensure smooth case flow
• Assess and monitor patients’ status, intervening promptly when clinical changes occur
• Maintain aseptic technique and ensure the sterile field is upheld at all times
• Administer medications and document care accurately in the patient's chart
• Educate patients and families about perioperative plans and recovery expectations
• Contribute to a positive, efficient OR environment through teamwork and clear communication

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice (compact license accepted where applicable)
• Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required; ACLS or CNOR preferred where applicable
• Prior experience in surgical or perioperative nursing is preferred
• Comfort working variable/per diem shifts, including weekends and nights
• Strong teamwork, communication, and patient advocacy skills
• Ability to stand for extended periods and assist in fast-paced surgical settings

Education

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN)
• BSN preferred but not required

Knowledge & Skills

• Perioperative nursing and surgical workflow knowledge
• Sterile technique and infection prevention practices
• Patient assessment and monitoring in the operative setting
• Medication administration and IV therapy skills
• Effective communication with multidisciplinary teams
• Accurate clinical documentation and charting
• Ability to prioritize and respond in urgent situations
