Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide skilled therapeutic interventions under the direction of a supervising physical therapist to help patients regain mobility and independence
• Assist with evaluation findings by implementing treatment plans, monitoring progress, and documenting outcomes clearly and professionally
• Deliver gait training, therapeutic exercises, and functional mobility practice tailored to each patient’s goals
• Educate patients and families on home exercise programs, safety, and adaptive equipment to support long-term success
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate care and ensure seamless patient transitions
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation and comply with facility policies and regulatory requirements

Qualifications

• Active PTA license in the state of Maryland, or ability to obtain prior to start
• Successful completion of an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program
• Current BLS/CPR certification (American Heart Association or equivalent)
• Clinical experience in outpatient, inpatient rehab, skilled nursing, or acute care settings preferred
• Strong communication skills and a patient-centered approach to care
• Ability to pass facility background checks and health screenings

Education

• Associate degree from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program
• Completion of required clinical education components

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of therapeutic exercise principles, gait training, and mobility assistance
• Familiarity with assistive devices, adaptive equipment, and proper patient handling techniques
• Proficient documentation skills and comfortable using electronic medical records
• Ability to modify treatment plans based on patient response and therapist guidance
• Strong interpersonal skills for patient education and teamwork
