Roles & Responsibilities

• Float to various Oncology Medical-Surgical units and provide high-quality bedside care
• Maintain patient safety and security while working within a locked corrections unit environment
• Perform telemetry monitoring and interpret/manage dysrhythmias on the unit
• Administer and manage IV therapy, PICC/central lines, and blood product administration safely
• Support oncology patients including chemo administration monitoring and post-op care when applicable
• Document thoroughly and accurately in EPIC and manage medications through Pyxis
• Collaborate with Corrections Officers and interdisciplinary teams (Pharmacy, Respiratory, PT, Radiology, Social Services) to coordinate patient care
• Respond effectively to rapid response and code team activations and support emergency interventions

Qualifications

• BLS (Basic Life Support) — required
• EPIC charting experience — required
• Minimum 2 years of clinical nursing experience (must meet within the last 3 years) with at least 1 year of current specialty experience for clinical pass
• Oncology experience preferred but not required
• IV therapy and phlebotomy skills preferred (accessing/maintaining IVs, PICC management, blood product administration)
• Comfort working in a locked corrections unit and the ability to maintain safety protocols with Corrections Officers
• Flu vaccine required (medical exemptions only); COVID-19 vaccine not required per facility guideline

Knowledge & Skills

• Medical-Surgical and Telemetry competencies
• Telemetry monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation/management
• IV insulin protocols and heparin protocol familiarity
• Central line/PICC care and blood product administration
• Experience with HFNC, BiPAP/CPAP, oxygen delivery and ABG interpretation
• Feeding tube care, tracheostomy management, and basic hemodialysis support
• Use of EPIC for documentation and Pyxis for medication management
• Isolation precautions, PPE use, and rapid response/code team participation
