Roles & Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients in an acute care hospital setting to determine functional status and rehabilitation needs
• Develop individualized care plans to address mobility, strength, and functional goals
• Implement therapeutic techniques across orthopedics, neurology, and cardiopulmonary cases
• Use patient lifting equipment and safe transfer strategies to protect patients and staff
• Document thoroughly and timely in Cerner PowerChart to maintain continuity of care
• Supervise and coordinate therapeutic care with PTAs, OTs, and rehab techs
• Communicate evaluation results and progress clearly with patients, families, and the interdisciplinary team
• Manage patient caseloads efficiently while delivering compassionate, patient-centered care

Qualifications

• Current North Carolina license to practice Physical Therapy (required)
• Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy (required)
• BLS certification (required)
• At least 1 year of acute care experience preferred
• Comfortable with Cerner PowerChart and electronic documentation
• Experience with patient lifting equipment and safe transfer techniques
• Strong communication skills and ability to work in fast-paced acute care settings

Education

• Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy

Knowledge & Skills

• Patient evaluation and bedside assessment in acute care
• Care plan development and therapeutic goal setting
• Therapeutic techniques for orthopedics, neurology, and cardiopulmonary patients
• Acute care physical therapy workflows and safety practices
• Proficiency with Cerner PowerChart documentation
• Experience using patient lifting equipment such as SARA+ and Stedy
• Supervision and coordination of multidisciplinary rehab teams
• Clear, compassionate communication with patients and families
