Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive medical record audits to validate ICD-10 and CPT coding accuracy for physicians and midlevel providers
• Compile clear, actionable audit reports with analysis of findings and trends
• Ensure coding supports clinical documentation and complies with reporting requirements
• Deliver regular education and feedback to providers, coders and charge-entry staff to improve documentation and coding accuracy
• Maintain audit logs and meet established productivity targets for record reviews
• Support the Revenue Cycle Manager by developing tools, training materials, and process improvements
• Train new revenue cycle team members on coding and documentation guidelines and participate in performance evaluations as needed

Qualifications

• Certified Professional Coder (CPC) — required
• Associate degree in a related field required; Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred
• Minimum five (5) years of inpatient and outpatient coding and auditing experience
• Strong experience with professional physician coding in an office-based setting
• Experience interacting with physicians and providing documentation/coding education
• Comfort auditing multiple specialties and compiling actionable audit reports

Education

• Associate Degree in a related field (required)
• Bachelor Degree in a related field (preferred)
• Certified Professional Coder (CPC) required

Knowledge & Skills

• Deep knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding and coding compliance
• Experience performing medical record auditing and clinical documentation review
• Ability to analyze records and translate findings into provider education
• Familiarity with charge entry workflows and revenue cycle processes
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for provider interaction and training
• Attention to detail and consistent productivity in record audits
