Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide clinical oversight of the Occupational Therapy department, ensuring high-quality patient care and adherence to professional standards
• Supervise and mentor certified Occupational Therapy Assistants (COTAs) and Rehabilitation Technicians, fostering competency and professional growth
• Lead the departmental clinical education and competency programs, coordinating ongoing training and evaluation
• Develop, review, and maintain OT policies and procedures covering scope of care, evaluation/treatment standards, discharge planning, and documentation
• Evaluate and treat patients (approximately 80% clinical time) with a patient-centered approach to maximize functional outcomes
• Contribute to program development and perform administrative tasks as needed to support department goals (approximately 20% administrative time)
• Ensure regulatory compliance with state practice acts, board requirements, and facility standards

Qualifications

• Graduated from an Occupational Therapy program approved by the American Occupational Therapy Association (required)
• Currently licensed as an Occupational Therapist in the State of California (required)
• Meets additional qualifications as recommended by the California Therapy Board and the Rehabilitation Services Department (required)
• Experience supervising COTAs and rehabilitation technicians and overseeing clinical education/competency processes
• Membership in the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA) is preferred

Education

• Graduate of a school of Occupational Therapy approved by the American Occupational Therapy Association

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong clinical skills in occupational therapy evaluation and treatment
• Experience with staff supervision, performance coaching, and competency assessment
• Knowledge of regulatory compliance and state practice act requirements
• Ability to develop and maintain policy and procedure manuals
• Skilled in documentation, discharge planning, and quality assurance processes
• Comfortable balancing clinical caseload with program development and administrative responsibilities
