Location: Columbus, OH

Contract Type: Travel Contract
Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour shifts; Night schedule commonly 3x12, 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM (rotation may include day shifts); schedule assignments reviewed every 4 weeks; weekends variable. Orientation: Week 1 Mon-Fri days; Week 2 36 hours on-unit with a preceptor.

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, evidence-based nursing care for adults with hematology and oncology diagnoses
- Administer chemotherapy and manage safe handling procedures for post-chemotherapy body fluids
- Perform and document blood product administration and monitor patient response closely
- Manage IV therapy, start IVs, handle PICC/central line care and central line blood draws
- Continuously monitor telemetry and interpret dysrhythmias to detect patient changes early
- Manage insulin and heparin drips and coordinate timely medication adjustments
- Follow strict infection prevention protocols and participate in fall prevention efforts
- Respond effectively as a member of Rapid Response Teams when patients deteriorate
- Chart thoroughly and accurately in EPIC to ensure continuity of care and clear communication
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members — pharmacy, PT/RT, radiology, social work and more — to achieve the best patient outcomes
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of professional experience, with experience requirements met within the most recent 3 years
- At least 1 year of current specialty experience required for clinical pass (oncology experience preferred but not required)
- BLS and ACLS certifications required
- IV therapy and infusion experience (preferred)
- Experience with blood product administration and central/PICC line care
- Comfort with telemetry monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation
- Proficiency with EPIC or similar electronic charting systems
- Willingness to float to other Med/Surg and Oncology units and to learn and grow your practice
- Flu vaccine required (medical exemptions only); COVID-19 vaccine not required per facility guideline

- Med/Surg and Telemetry nursing skills
- Chemotherapy administration principles and safe handling
- Blood transfusion procedures and monitoring
- Central line, PICC and port management including central line blood draws
- IV antibiotics, insulin drips and heparin drip management
- Dysrhythmia recognition and telemetry interpretation
- Infection prevention best practices and isolation/PPE protocols
- Feeding tube care and management
- Use of Rapid Response Teams and interdisciplinary coordination
- EPIC computerized charting proficiency
