Location: College Station, Texas

Contract Type: Contract

Shift Type: Monday-Friday, 10-hour shifts starting between 7:00 AM - 8:00 AM with random days off; 10-12 weeknights of call per month (after shift to 7:00 AM next day); 1 weekend per month (24-hour call 7:00 AM - 7:00 AM)

Hours per Week: 40

Candidate Pay Rate: $55 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities

Provide expert care in Phase 1 and Phase 2 PACU plus Preop, handling everything from general surgeries to pediatrics
Monitor and recover patients with nurse-patient ratios like 1:2 in Phase 1 and 1:1 for peds
Read and interpret basic tele strips while managing critical care drips and occasional ICU needs
Float first between College Station and Bryan campuses to support where needed most
Respond to call within 30 minutes, covering Preop and more as a true team player

Qualifications

Active RN license
BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications
Must pass Basic Dysrhythmia test (83% required, 3 attempts allowed)
1 year of PACU experience preferred; first-time travelers welcome

Education

RN licensure required

Knowledge & Skills

PACU Phase 1 and Phase 2 expertise
Preop coverage comfort
EMR systems like SIS and Meditech
Common cases from choles and appys to peds ENT and occasional ortho or endo
Basic dysrhythmia interpretation and tele strip reading
