Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, hands-on care to a diverse Med Surg Ortho patient population including post-surgical joint replacements, COPD, diabetes, and wound management
• Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to deliver hourly rounding and bedside shift reports that keep patients and families informed
• Float to PCU and behavioral health units when needed, showcasing your adaptability and commitment to excellent care across settings
• Administer medications and monitor IV therapies such as heparin, antibiotics, and antithrombotics with precision and attention to safety
• Support patients through recovery journeys that range from total knee and hip replacements to managing complex conditions like sepsis and CHF

Qualifications

• Active RN license in Iowa or compact state
• Current BLS certification required
• Minimum one year of recent Med Surg or Ortho experience preferred
• Ability to pass an open-book skills exam with a 90 percent score during orientation
• Valid driver's license for radius verification at submission

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong assessment and critical thinking skills for a variety of acute and post-surgical patients
• Comfort with self-directed practice and adapting to change on a dynamic unit
• Excellent communication for bedside reporting and hourly rounding
• Ability to read cardiac monitors and collaborate with monitor techs in ICU
• Team-oriented mindset with a willingness to float to PCU and behavioral health as needed
