Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide skilled emergency nursing care by utilizing the nursing process for assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation
• Administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with policy, standards of care, and state practice act
• Perform thorough patient assessments and develop individualized plans of care in collaboration with physicians and the interdisciplinary team
• Document patient care accurately and timely according to standards
• Participate in unit performance improvement activities and shared governance to enhance patient outcomes
• Escalate patient safety concerns and clinical changes through the appropriate chain of command
• Provide clinical mentorship and guidance to other units or staff as needed

Qualifications

• Active Illinois Registered Nurse (RN) license
• BLS, ACLS, PALS required
• NIHSS certification required (stroke scale competency)
• TNCC or TNS (one is required)
• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (education verification required)
• Prior experience in Emergency Room nursing (clinical competency in fast-paced acute care)
• Ability to work day shifts with weekend and holiday rotation and function well in a collaborative team

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (degree verification required)

Knowledge & Skills

• Patient assessment and triage in emergency settings
• Medication administration and IV therapy
• Accurate documentation and charting to standards
• Care planning and execution of individualized patient care
• Strong critical thinking and clinical decision-making
• Effective collaboration with interdisciplinary teams
• Trauma and acute care fundamentals relevant to ER practice
• Familiarity with stroke assessment (NIHSS) and emergency protocols
