Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess and triage patients quickly and accurately to prioritize lifesaving care
• Provide direct emergency nursing care including IVs, medication administration, and monitoring
• Collaborate closely with physicians, techs and support staff to coordinate patient flow
• Document assessments, interventions and disposition clearly in the medical record
• Educate patients and families about conditions, treatments and safe discharge plans
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient safety and outcomes
• Serve as a team player during high-acuity events, maintaining calm and clinical focus

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license — Hawaii licensure required or compact state privileges if applicable
• Prior Emergency Department experience preferred (ED/ER background highly valued)
• Current BLS required; ACLS and PALS certifications preferred or willing to obtain
• Strong assessment, triage and critical thinking skills in high-acuity environments
• Ability to work 12.5-hour shifts, including nights and weekends as scheduled
• Excellent communication skills and a collaborative attitude

Education

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN/ASN or BSN)
• BSN preferred but not required

Knowledge & Skills

• Triage and emergency assessment skills
• IV therapy, medication administration and emergency procedures
• Familiarity with electronic health record documentation
• Ability to manage multiple patients in a fast-paced ED setting
• Stabilization skills for trauma and acute medical emergencies
• Teamwork, delegation and clear communication under pressure
