Shift Type: Evenings: Primarily 5x8 schedule, 2:30 PM - 11:00 PM (five shifts per week). Alternative rotating block option includes combinations of 2x8 and 2x12 shifts with shift times that include 2:30 PM - 11:00 PM. In-house weekend rotation required and call duties included (weekday call begins at 7:00 PM; weekend call divided into 12-hour blocks). Night/rotating schedule.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert perioperative nursing care in the CVOR for adults and geriatric patients, ensuring safety and clinical excellence
• Support and assist during complex cardiovascular, thoracic, vascular, and transplant procedures including TAVR and LVAD cases
• Perform accurate EPIC charting and maintain thorough documentation for continuity of care
• Participate equitably in call rotation and respond promptly to weekday and weekend calls beginning at 7:00 PM
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, perfusionists, and the interdisciplinary team to optimize patient outcomes
• Maintain sterile technique, manage blood and blood products, and operate/safely assist with specialized equipment (IABP, robotics, endovascular tools)
• Respond effectively to emergencies and code situations in the OR setting with calm, evidence-based interventions

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing
• Minimum 3 years overall OR experience with at least 2 years dedicated to cardiac and vascular care (hard requirement)
• At least 1 year of CVOR experience and 1 year working in a Level I Trauma facility
• BLS and NIH certifications required
• ACLS and NIHSS preferred
• EPIC charting experience required
• Ability to work flexible schedules, participate in weekend rotation, and accept call assignments

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong perioperative knowledge in General OR, Cardiovascular, Thoracic, Vascular, and Transplant surgery
• Familiarity with procedures such as CABG, TAVR, TEVAR/EVAR, LVAD management, and aortic aneurysm repairs
• Experience with endovascular procedures, atherectomy, carotid interventions, and hybrid OR cases
• Comfort with robotic platforms including Da Vinci systems and other advanced instrumentation
• Competence in emergency management, code response, malignant hyperthermia protocols, and universal protocol (time out)
• Proficiency with EPIC charting and documentation standards
• Skilled in administration of blood products, infection control, wound management, and specimen handling
