Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality critical care to adult and geriatric ICU patients with compassion and clinical excellence
• Monitor cardiac rhythms, obtain 12-lead EKGs, and interpret dysrhythmias to support rapid, appropriate interventions
• Manage mechanical ventilation and care for ventilated patients, including ventilator maintenance and troubleshooting
• Administer and titrate vasoactive and cardiac drips safely and according to protocols
• Perform and manage invasive lines including arterial lines, central lines, and PICC lines
• Administer blood products and manage transfusion care with attention to safety and documentation
• Use Epic for accurate, timely charting and interdisciplinary communication
• Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team including pharmacy, IV teams, and respiratory therapy to optimize patient outcomes
• Support neurocritical care needs including ICP monitoring, lumbar drains, and post-craniotomy care when indicated
• Adhere to unit and facility policies, provide dependable weekend coverage, and float between like units as needed

Qualifications

• Active RN license in the appropriate jurisdiction (pending licenses are not accepted)
• Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required
• Current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Must pass EKG exam - no exceptions
• Experience with Epic electronic charting required
• Travel nursing experience required; able to work nights and every-other-weekend
• Comfortable floating to similar critical care units per facility needs
• Able to complete a 24-hour orientation and meet facility onboarding requirements

Knowledge & Skills

• Cardiac monitoring and interpretation of dysrhythmias
• Mechanical ventilation management and ventilator support
• Arterial, central line, and PICC line care and troubleshooting
• Blood product administration and transfusion safety
• Titration of vasoactive and cardiac drips
• IV therapy including starting and maintaining IVs and IV insulin protocols
• Neuro-critical care skills: ICP monitoring, lumbar drains, post-craniotomy care
• Procedural sedation administration and monitoring
• Thermoregulation care for hypo- and hyperthermia
• Familiarity with trauma care (preferred Trauma Level II experience) and working in a teaching hospital environment
• Proficient use of Epic for charting and clinical documentation
