Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide specialized neonatal critical care for infants in the NICU with skill and compassion
- Assess, monitor, and document physiologic status and care plans for critically ill newborns
- Administer and manage medications and advanced therapies per unit protocols
- Collaborate with neonatologists, respiratory therapists, and multidisciplinary teams to optimize outcomes
- Educate and support families during stressful moments, delivering clear communication and empathy
- Perform and maintain competency through required Prime exams and skills checklists
- Participate in unit quality improvement and safety initiatives to improve patient care
Qualifications
- Active RN license (must be verifiable via Nursys or appropriate board)
- Current BLS (AHA) certification required
- NRP certification required
- DCI/BVP certification listed as required
- Recent acute, in-hospital NICU experience preferred and required for traveler role
- Comfort and experience working 12-hour night shifts in an ICU/NICU environment
- Ability to complete Prime Basic Pharmacology, Rhythm Interpretation, Core Competencies, Specialty exams, and Skills Checklist
- Meet required health and screening items (immunizations, TB testing, drug screen, fit test, etc.)
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong neonatal critical care knowledge and NICU clinical skills
- Proficiency with neonatal monitoring and emergency response protocols
- Experience with ICU-level documentation and electronic medical records
- Ability to perform under pressure with excellent clinical judgment
- Effective teamwork, communication, and family-centered care skills
- Familiarity with Prime exam processes and competency validation
