Roles & Responsibilities
- Assist the Physical Therapist in delivering individualized treatment plans that help patients progress toward their goals
- Provide therapeutic interventions such as therapeutic exercise, gait training, transfers, and mobility practice
- Document patient evaluations, interventions, and progress accurately and in a timely manner
- Educate patients and families on home programs, safety, and techniques to promote independence
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary care team to ensure coordinated, patient-centered care
- Prepare and maintain treatment areas and equipment, ensuring a safe environment
- Advocate for patients and contribute ideas to improve rehabilitation outcomes
Qualifications
- Licensed Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) or PTA graduate eligible for Maryland licensure
- Graduation from an accredited PTA program
- Current CPR/BLS certification required or willingness to obtain prior to start
- Comfort working in a skilled rehab or long-term care setting and with patients across the adult lifespan
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work well within a multidisciplinary team
- Reliable, professional, and committed to patient safety and quality care
Education
- Associate degree or diploma from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of therapeutic exercise, gait training, transfers, and common rehab modalities
- Familiarity with patient documentation and basic computer charting
- Strong clinical observation and patient assessment skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills for patient and family education
- Time management and organization to manage caseloads and shift flow
