Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide professional, compassionate ALS care to patients of all ages in pre-hospital and hospital settings
- Perform thorough patient assessments and document findings and interventions promptly
- Administer medications safely using the 5 Patient Rights and standing orders
- Titrate IV drips (nitroglycerin, heparin, IV fluids, vasopressors) per protocol
- Supervise and ensure the safety of EMTs, staff, and bystanders during calls and transfers
- Coordinate interfacility transfers and communicate patient status at handoff
- Operate and maintain ambulance and respiratory equipment including CPAP, BiPAP and ventilators
- Adjust workload and staffing needs in communication with the Ambulance Supervisor and leadership
Qualifications
- Active Paramedic License (State) and NREMT-P required
- ACLS, BLS, PALS and NRP certifications required
- ALS-level care experience; minimum 1 year of relevant experience preferred
- Experience with drip titration and IV/vasopressor management
- Intubation experience preferred but not strictly required
- Ability to respond within a 10-minute on-call window as part of rotation
- Must comply with a 50-mile radius rule and may not be employed FT/PT/PRN with CommonSpirit/CHI/Dignity-affiliated facilities
- Manager interview required; NO ED clinical responsibilities for this posting
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong patient assessment and clinical judgment across pediatric to geriatric populations
- Medication administration and strict adherence to the 5 Rights
- Competence with ambulance and hospital respiratory equipment
- Familiarity with interfacility transfer coordination and documentation
- Proficiency in titrating IV drips and managing vasopressors
- Trauma care and emergency response skills
- Experience with charting systems like PointClickCare (PCC) preferred
- Clear communication skills for handoffs and supervisory reporting
