Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess patients' speech, language, cognitive-communication, and swallowing abilities and create individualized treatment plans
• Provide evidence-based therapy interventions to help patients regain communication and swallowing function
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members including nurses, physicians, and rehab staff to coordinate care
• Document patient progress, treatment plans, and discharge summaries accurately and timely in the facility EHR
• Educate patients and families on therapy goals, strategies, and home programs to support recovery
• Participate in meetings and contribute to patient-centered discharge planning

Qualifications

• Valid California Speech-Language Pathology license or ability to obtain state licensure
• ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) preferred
• Experience evaluating and treating a range of patient populations across medical and rehab settings
• Strong clinical reasoning, assessment, and treatment planning skills
• Comfortable with documentation in electronic health records and meeting facility documentation standards
• Current BLS/CPR certification (or ability to obtain) and ability to pass facility onboarding requirements

Education

• Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology or related field (required)

Knowledge & Skills

• Skilled in dysphagia assessment and treatment, cognitive-communication therapy, and language intervention
• Knowledge of evidence-based assessment tools and intervention strategies
• Proficient in AAC strategies and compensatory communication techniques
• Strong interpersonal and interdisciplinary communication skills
• Solid documentation skills and familiarity with common EHR systems used in acute/rehab settings
