Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess and continuously monitor patients' respiratory status and needs
• Manage mechanical ventilators and advanced airway devices safely and effectively
• Administer oxygen therapy, nebulized medications, and aerosol treatments
• Perform arterial blood gas sampling, analyze results, and adjust care accordingly
• Provide airway clearance techniques and suctioning as clinically indicated
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and the interdisciplinary care team to optimize outcomes
• Educate patients and families on respiratory care plans, equipment use, and disease management
• Accurately document assessments, treatments, and patient progress in the medical record

Qualifications

• Valid State Respiratory Therapist licensure (required)
• Credentialed as RRT or CRT by the NBRC (preferred)
• Current BLS certification required; ACLS and PALS encouraged
• Clinical experience in acute care settings preferred
• Comfortable with ventilator management, weaning protocols, and emergency airway care
• Strong communication skills and ability to work well in a team-focused environment

Education

• Associate degree in Respiratory Therapy or related field (required)
• Bachelor's degree in Respiratory Therapy or related field (preferred)

Knowledge & Skills

• Mechanical ventilation management and ventilator alarm troubleshooting
• Airway management including endotracheal tube care and suctioning
• Arterial blood gas (ABG) sampling and interpretation
• Non-invasive ventilation (CPAP/BiPAP) and oxygen therapy modalities
• Familiarity with pulmonary function testing and respiratory diagnostics
• Proficient documentation in electronic medical record systems
