Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality respiratory care and life-saving interventions to patients across acuity levels
• Manage ventilators, administer respiratory treatments, and perform arterial blood gas analysis
• Assess patient respiratory status and develop individualized care plans in collaboration with the care team
• Respond to codes and rapid response situations with calm, skilled clinical action
• Educate patients and families on respiratory therapies, equipment, and home care plans
• Document care accurately in the electronic medical record and communicate changes to the interdisciplinary team

Qualifications

• Current Respiratory Therapist license in Louisiana or eligibility to obtain state licensure
• CRT or RRT credential (RRT preferred)
• BLS required; ACLS and PALS preferred or willing to obtain
• Clinical experience in acute care settings preferred — ICU, ED, or step-down experience a plus
• Strong critical thinking, teamwork, and communication skills

Education

• Associate Degree in Respiratory Therapy or equivalent (Bachelor’s preferred)
• Completion of an accredited respiratory therapy program

Knowledge & Skills

• Ventilator management and troubleshooting
• Arterial blood gas (ABG) interpretation
• Airway management and emergency response
• Familiarity with common EMRs and accurate clinical documentation
• Patient assessment, care planning, and family education
• Ability to work collaboratively across nursing and physician teams
