Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess and monitor patients with respiratory and pulmonary conditions
• Provide respiratory therapies and manage ventilator settings as clinically indicated
• Perform arterial blood gas analysis and assist in interpreting results to guide care
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and the interdisciplinary team to deliver coordinated care
• Document patient care accurately and timely in the electronic medical record
• Educate patients and families on respiratory care plans and equipment use

Qualifications

• Active Respiratory Therapist license in Louisiana or eligibility to obtain state licensure
• CRT or RRT certification preferred
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required; ACLS preferred where applicable
• Clinical experience in acute or critical care settings is a plus
• Strong communication skills and comfort working in a fast-paced hospital environment

Education

• Associate degree in Respiratory Therapy or completion of an accredited respiratory therapy program
• Bachelor’s degree in Respiratory Therapy or related field preferred but not required

Knowledge & Skills

• Mechanical ventilation management and ventilator troubleshooting
• Arterial blood gas interpretation and oxygenation strategies
• Oxygen therapy, aerosolized medication delivery, and airway management
• Pulmonary function testing and respiratory assessment
• Proficiency with electronic medical records and clinical documentation
• Ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams
