Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality respiratory care and assessment to patients across acuity levels
• Operate and troubleshoot ventilators and respiratory support equipment safely
• Perform and interpret arterial blood gases and recommend appropriate interventions
• Collaborate closely with nurses, physicians, and interdisciplinary team members to optimize patient outcomes
• Document respiratory care interventions accurately in the patient record
• Participate in emergency response and airway management when needed
• Educate patients and families on respiratory therapies, equipment use, and discharge planning

Qualifications

• Current Georgia respiratory care license required (or ability to obtain state licensure)
• CRT or RRT credential preferred
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) preferred
• Prior acute care or hospital respiratory therapy experience preferred
• Strong clinical judgment, excellent communication skills, and teamwork mindset

Education

• Associate’s degree in Respiratory Therapy or graduation from an accredited respiratory therapy program
• Completion of credentialing (CRT/RRT) as required by employer/state

Knowledge & Skills

• Ventilator management and ventilator weaning protocols
• Arterial blood gas (ABG) analysis and interpretation
• Airway management, oxygen therapy, and pulmonary hygiene techniques
• Familiarity with common respiratory devices and monitoring equipment
• Clear clinical documentation and electronic medical record (EMR) navigation
• Ability to work effectively in fast-paced, interdisciplinary environments
