Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, high-quality nursing care to patients in the Step-Down Unit
• Perform ongoing patient assessment and monitoring, intervening promptly for changes in condition
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to develop and execute individualized care plans
• Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately in accordance with orders
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation of patient status and interventions
• Educate patients and families about conditions, treatments, and discharge plans
• Participate in unit-based quality improvement and safety initiatives

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license — ability to practice in Louisiana or meet facility licensure requirements
• Previous experience in a Step-Down, progressive care, telemetry, or similar acute care setting preferred
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) or other certifications preferred where applicable
• Strong clinical assessment, IV and medication administration skills
• Clear communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with medical teams
• Ability to handle high-acuity patients and multitask in a fast-paced environment

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) — BSN preferred where applicable
• Completion of an accredited nursing program

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry and cardiac monitoring knowledge appropriate for a Step-Down Unit
• Patient assessment and clinical decision-making for higher-acuity care
• Familiarity with electronic health records and accurate clinical documentation
• Infection prevention and safety best practices
• Time management and prioritization in a busy clinical setting
