Contract Type: Contract

Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour shifts (7:00 AM - 7:00 PM or 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM), block scheduling, every other weekend, with on-call standby rotation

Hours per Week: 36

Candidate Pay Rate: $65 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities

Provide expert nursing care to newborns in the Special Care Nursery, monitoring and treating conditions like respiratory distress, hypoglycemia, and jaundice.
Attend deliveries as the baby nurse, ensuring immediate neonatal assessment and intervention.
Flex to postpartum to manage mother-baby couplets when nursery census is low.
Perform IV starts, maintain IV lines, and manage Bubble CPAP and Hiflow therapies.
Assist with umbilical line placement and maintenance.
Titrate drips such as D5W and TPN.
Coordinate transfers to higher level of care when necessary.
Collaborate with neonatologists and RTs to provide optimal patient outcomes.

Qualifications

Active RN license in Washington state
Current BLS and NRP certifications
Minimum 2 years of experience in NICU Level 2 and postpartum care
Proficiency in attending deliveries as the baby nurse
Experience with IV start and maintenance, Bubble CPAP, Hiflow, and umbilical line management
Ability to titrate drips and work in a fast-paced environment

Knowledge & Skills

Strong knowledge of neonatal resuscitation and stabilization
Skill in managing respiratory support devices (CPAP, BiPap, Hiflow)
Competence in IV therapy and umbilical line procedures
Understanding of common neonatal conditions and treatments
Ability to adapt to changing assignments between SCN and postpartum
Excellent team collaboration and communication skills
