Location: Portsmouth, Virginia

Start Date: 08-26-2026

Contract Type: Travel Contract

Shift Type: Monday-Friday, 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM with night call (3:00 PM - 7:00 AM) and weekend 24-hour call (7:00 AM - 7:00 AM)

Hours per Week: 40

Candidate Pay Rate: $126 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities

Provide comprehensive care to cardiothoracic surgery patients, including pre-operative assessments, intraoperative assistance, and post-operative management
Perform patient rounds on 5-10 patients daily, coordinating with the surgical team
Assist in surgical procedures in both inpatient and outpatient settings
Manage patient care plans and ensure continuity of care during call shifts

Qualifications

Board Certified or Board Eligible Physician Assistant
Active Virginia state license required
Active DEA registration required
Prior experience in cardiothoracic surgery or relevant training
Eligibility for hospital privileges at Bon Secours Maryview Medical Center

Knowledge & Skills

Strong clinical skills in cardiothoracic surgery and critical care
Proficiency with EPIC electronic medical records system
Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
Ability to handle high-acuity patients and on-call responsibilities
