Location: Bakersfield, California

Start Date: 06-13-2026

End Date: 09-12-2026

Contract Type: Contract

Shift Type: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM; occasional one day a week 10:00 AM - 6:30 PM; one weekend every third weekend

Hours per Week: 40

Candidate Pay Rate: $59 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities

Evaluate and treat a diverse caseload of acute inpatients including post-surgical, deconditioned, and neurological patients
Cover medical/surgical, ICU, and ER units providing timely physical therapy interventions
Develop individualized treatment plans to help patients regain mobility and independence
Collaborate with the rehab team and nursing staff to ensure seamless patient care
Document patient progress accurately and efficiently within the hospital system

Qualifications

Active California Physical Therapist license is a must
Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association
At least 1 year of acute inpatient PT experience required
Strong clinical reasoning and ability to manage complex patient cases
Excellent communication skills for interacting with patients and interdisciplinary teams

Knowledge & Skills

Expertise in orthopedic and neurological rehabilitation
Proficiency in patient assessment, functional mobility training, and therapeutic exercise
Understanding of acute care protocols and safety standards
Ability to prioritize and manage time effectively in a fast-paced hospital environment
Familiarity with electronic medical records systems
