Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, compassionate nursing care to patients in the Step-Down Unit
• Continuously assess and monitor patient status, including cardiac and hemodynamic monitoring
• Administer medications, IV therapies, and ordered treatments accurately
• Collaborate closely with physicians and the interdisciplinary care team to implement care plans
• Respond promptly to changes in patient condition and emergencies with confidence
• Educate patients and families about condition, treatment plans, and discharge needs
• Accurately document assessments, interventions, and patient responses in the medical record
• Participate in unit-based quality improvement and safety initiatives

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (Louisiana) — required
• Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification — required
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) preferred
• Experience in a Step-Down Unit, telemetry, or progressive care setting preferred
• Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, and time-management skills
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficient in cardiac monitoring and telemetry interpretation
• Skilled with IV therapy, medication administration, and hemodynamic assessments
• Solid patient assessment and clinical decision-making skills
• Familiarity with electronic medical records and accurate documentation practices
• Ability to prioritize, multitask, and remain calm in fast-paced situations
• Strong interpersonal skills for working with patients, families, and the care team
