Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, patient-centered nursing care in the step-down unit (SDU)
• Assess, monitor, and document patient condition and response to treatment
• Collaborate with physicians and multidisciplinary teams to implement care plans
• Administer medications and advanced therapies safely and accurately
• Educate patients and families about care plans, medications, and discharge needs
• Respond quickly and effectively to changes in patient status and escalate concerns
• Contribute to unit safety, quality improvement, and positive patient experience

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse license in Louisiana (or compact RN license where applicable)
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred
• Experience caring for higher-acuity patients in step-down, telemetry, or ICU settings is a plus
• Strong critical thinking, assessment, and communication skills
• Ability to work 12.5-hour shifts and thrive in a fast-paced environment

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficiency in cardiac monitoring and recognizing hemodynamic changes
• Familiarity with step-down interventions and post-ICU care
• Excellent clinical documentation and time management skills
• Team-oriented attitude with strong interdisciplinary collaboration
• Comfort with electronic medical records and standard nursing technology
