Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality nursing care to a diverse patient population in a fast-paced 28-bed PCU
• Manage titratable drips including Heparin, insulin, and Octreotide
• Monitor and interpret telemetry readings for cardiac and stroke patients
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including charge nurses, patient care techs, and unit secretaries
• Adapt to frequent admissions, transfers, and discharges while maintaining positive team dynamics
• Float to Med/Surg, ICU, or ED as needed based on patient care requirements

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Nebraska or compact state
• Minimum 1-2 years of PCU or step-down experience preferred
• Commitment to passing an open-book exam on skills learned during orientation (90% or higher required)
• Ability to work rotating weekends and holidays as scheduled
• Compliance with facility policies including no artificial nails in patient care areas

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficiency in BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certification (required)
• Experience with cardiac drips and telemetry interpretation
• Strong teamwork and communication skills to thrive in a high-flow unit
• Adaptability to floating assignments across multiple units
• Familiarity with equipment such as LUCAS machines, Hoyer lifts, and code carts
