Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, compassionate nursing care to pediatric ICU patients
• Perform continuous monitoring and assessment of critically ill children
• Administer medications and therapies safely and accurately, following protocols
• Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, and the care team to deliver coordinated care
• Respond rapidly and effectively to changes in patient condition and emergencies
• Maintain clear, timely documentation in the patient chart/EMR
• Engage families with empathy, clear communication, and education about care plans
• Participate in orientation, training, and unit-based quality improvement activities

Qualifications

• Active RN licensure (Ohio RN license or multistate compact eligibility preferred)
• Experience or background in Pediatric ICU / PICU care (core requirement)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) preferred
• Comfort with critical care monitoring, ventilator management basics, and pediatric medication dosing
• Ability to work per-diem shifts and participate in the required orientation

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) — BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong pediatric assessment and critical thinking skills
• Familiarity with PICU equipment and monitoring (ventilators, hemodynamic monitors)
• Safe medication administration and pediatric dosing knowledge
• Effective teamwork and clear communication with interdisciplinary staff
• Proficient documentation skills and comfort using electronic medical records
• Calm, decisive action in urgent or emergent situations
