Contract Type: Per-Diem

Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour shifts, day and night coverage (exact start/end times vary by unit; 12-hour blocks per facility schedule)

Hours per Week: 36

Candidate Pay Rate: $54 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities

Assess and monitor patients emerging from anesthesia, ensuring safe recovery
Administer medications and manage pain control per physician orders
Continuously monitor vital signs and respond to changes swiftly and calmly
Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and perioperative team for smooth handoffs
Perform thorough documentation to maintain accurate patient records
Educate patients and families about post-anesthesia care and discharge instructions
Participate in unit-based quality and safety initiatives to improve patient outcomes

Qualifications

Current RN licensure (must be eligible to practice in Louisiana)
Prior PACU or post-anesthesia care experience preferred
Comfortable working 12-hour shifts in a fast-paced perioperative environment
Basic Life Support (BLS) required; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred or obtainable
Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, and communication skills

Education

Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Nursing Diploma required; BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

Post-anesthesia assessment and monitoring
Medication administration and titration in the PACU setting
IV therapy and airway support fundamentals
Accurate EHR documentation and handoff communication
Teamwork within perioperative and surgical services
