Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform thorough triage and patient assessments to prioritize care and keep patient flow moving smoothly
• Administer medications (oral, topical, IM, SQ, intradermal, IV push/infusion) and manage IV therapy from initiation through discontinuation
• Document clinical findings, interventions, education and follow-up in the EMR accurately and professionally
• Provide telephone triage and next-day follow-up calls, offering clear, compassionate guidance and care plans
• Coordinate referrals and track outcomes, serving as a primary link between providers, case managers and outside facilities
• Maintain infection control practices and a safe, well-stocked working environment
• Respond to emergency situations as part of the triage role and support team-based emergency response
• Serve as vaccine coordinator or backup as needed, supporting immunization workflows and documentation
• Participate in department improvement initiatives and ongoing clinical competency development

Qualifications

• Current full, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in Alaska or another U.S. state (Direct hire must have applied for Alaska license before start; agency staff must have active Alaska license)
• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing and eligible to take the NCLEX
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification preferred
• Clinical Competency assessment required within 3 months of hire and every three years
• High Risk Competency required within 3 months of hire and annually
• Minimum 2 years of general nursing experience with at least 1 year in ambulatory or urgent care (preferred)

Education

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing (eligible to take NCLEX)
• High school diploma or equivalent required

Knowledge & Skills

• Triage and urgent care patient assessment
• Medication administration including IV push and IV infusion
• IV insertion, maintenance and discontinuation
• Clinical documentation/charting and EMR proficiency
• Infection control and safety protocols
• Telephone triage and patient education
• Referral coordination and case management
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary team and remain calm during urgent situations
