Roles & Responsibilities

• Prepare the operating room and surgical instruments to ensure a safe, sterile environment
• Assist the surgical team during procedures, anticipating needs and maintaining efficiency
• Monitor patients’ vital signs and condition throughout the perioperative process
• Perform thorough pre-op and post-op patient assessments and documentation
• Maintain strict infection control and sterile technique practices
• Collaborate closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and perioperative staff for seamless patient care
• Respond promptly and professionally to intraoperative changes or emergencies

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Louisiana (or ability to obtain prior to start)
• Perioperative/operating room experience or strong interest in OR nursing
• BLS required; ACLS preferred or available per facility policy
• Current immunizations and TB screening per hospital requirements
• Excellent communication, teamwork, and situational awareness in fast-paced surgical settings

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)

Knowledge & Skills

• Sterile technique and operating room protocols
• Perioperative patient assessment and monitoring
• Familiarity with surgical instrumentation and supplies
• Strong documentation skills and attention to detail
• Ability to anticipate surgical team needs and prioritize under pressure
• Comfort working with multidisciplinary teams and adapting to changing schedules
